The Owen Family: Dan, Stacy, Paige & Harper
Stacy Owen grew up in Monclova, Ohio and is the youngest of three siblings. She developed an adventurous spirit and independence during her growing years; always trying something new and dedicating herself to her favorite sports and activities. Stacy attended Anthony Wayne High School in Whitehouse, Ohio, where she stumbled upon one of her earliest inspirations. During a field trip to Chicago with the Art Club, one of the features was a tour of the local homes designed by architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. As Stacy stared through the stained glass windows of the masterfully designed homes she found herself motivated to create. The clean lines, the use of space and color and the geometric concepts all spoke to her. Over the next few years Stacy began experimenting with stained glass – creating gifts for family & friends.
Another early passion for Stacy was fitness which she pursued in furthering her education. Stacy earned a degree in Outdoor Recreation with a minor in Environmental Education from Bowling Green State University. With degree in hand, Stacy attained a position at the YMCA as senior program director for several years. Although she has left her career in the fitness field, she still very much enjoys running, boxing and team sports. Not being a professionally trained artist has allowed Stacy the freedom to create on her own terms. Her path serves as inspiration that creativity is not only for art school graduates, but for all of us to discover & enjoy in our own way - because every artist was first an amateur.
In 2006, Stacy and her sister, Amy started playing with the idea of opening a small art studio. With the help of their realtor and father, Bruce Wetzel, they came across a small house just outside of Toledo, Ohio in the suburb of Holland. It was perfect for a small studio & gallery space. Copper Moon Studio opened in November 2006 and featured a wide variety of creations from industrial photographs, to handmade purses, to stained glass art. As the studio grew, Stacy began growing as an artist while experimenting in a new medium: fused glass. Stacy discovered her niche and began working many, many hours learning the ways of fused glass and building a business. In 2011, Copper Moon Studio moved to a more expansive location in Holland. Copper Moon offers fused glass art classes and has grown to be a successful business with the hard work and dedication of Stacy, her family, friends and staff. The Moon features the ever-changing fused glass art collection of Stacy Owen and her creative team. Copper Moon Studio has become a favorite destination for many local customers, creative spirits and fused glass art lovers.
“Live the life you dream” is the personal mantra of Stacy Owen and she is happily working towards that goal every day.
